This institution has been named as Minto Circle in order to pay respect to Aligarh Muslim University on one hand and to Mr. Minto, the person who established the modern system of education in India, on the other hand. Minto Circle (English Medium High School) was established at Raj Bagh in Srinagar on 1st day of March 1975. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. The school aims to help students develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes they need to excel not only in their studies but also in their personal growth. It was set to impart education to the children of growing middle class with the following main aims and objectives:
